Who We Are
From Humble Beginnings to Global Impact
In 1984, brothers John and Peter Douvris opened their first dojo to share karate with Ottawa. Today, we've expanded to 10 schools in Ottawa and multiple locations globally, with each school owned by former Douvris students committed to our values.
Master Sensei John Douvris, a 9th degree black belt and Canadian Heavyweight Champion (1984-1993), serves as the heart of Douvris and co-founder of the World Karate & Kickboxing Commission. His brother, Master Sensei Peter Douvris, a 7th-degree Black Belt and Canadian National Team Coach since 1998, has raised over $60,000 for various charities.
